Dunfermline Athletic

Old Story Curling with Boreland

We have a busy series of competitions in place throughout each curling season, with most members playing a similar number of club games.
Since the early days of simply playing amongst ourselves, we have actively participated in all the main competitions in the West Fife Province. During that time we have won a number of competitions including the Province League, Province Knock out and Province Pairs.

Over the years we have enjoyed regular challenge matches against neighbouring clubs including Broomhall, Aberdour and Dunfermline. We have also regularly organised games against Dalgety Bay and have, since 2009, organised an annual challenge match against Inverkeithing. The common thread in these matches is that they are all keenly contested. Neverthelesst, they are always played in excellent spirit and have fostered many friendships.

We have always entered the RCCC Annual Grand Match (North vs South), more in hope than in expectation. Two of our members have curled with RCCC tours in Canada and many of our members have played against visiting touring sides from Canada, the USA and elsewhere.

Many of our members have also played curling in Spain and have participated in Bonspiels at most of the ice rinks in Scotland. Our playing success has been mixed in competitive matches, but there have been frequent highlights over the last 30+ years including recording an “8 Ender” (a score of 8 in one end) in a match against Dalgety Bay.
